By now, we’re all well aware of how much fun porn can be.
But then someone took a look at all that bumping and the grinding and saw the potential for it to be more than that: a way for queer men to enjoy all the rollicking, steamy action and learn about sex at the same time.
The man behind this novel approach to gay porn is Davey Wavey, and his adult video site Himeros.tv.
But who is he, and why should his mission be a lesson the entire adult entertainment industry should take to heart?
YouTube beginnings
In 2007, one of his Wickydkewl channel debut videos was called “I Caught My Hot Neighbor Masturbating! (with sound).” Almost immediately after it went up, it exploded in popularity eventually garnering a staggering two million views and launching Davey Wavey toward becoming a bright new voice among queer YouTubers.
Since then, this 36-year-old Rhode Island native has released a wide range of videos on practically every important aspect of queer life, notably focusing on things like prostate health, BDSM, relationship issues, and dating for his 1.34 million subscribers.
Talking to Tubefilter, he explained that post-2016, his channel was all about self-celebration:
“More than accepting who you are, it’s about owning it and honoring it – especially certain aspects of ourselves, whether it be our body types, gender identity, sexual orientation, or otherwise, which may seem especially tough to celebrate.”
Since then, he’s expanded by passionately embracing the need for the queer community to be more inclusive by addressing common misconceptions such as the failure to respect the sexuality of older gay men and calling attention to body issues, including disabilities and those with HIV.
Enter Himeros.tv
Feeling the need to go further, in 2016, he started Himeros.tv: a video-hosting platform dedicated to celebrating the entire scope of queer sexuality by moving beyond the perfectly sculpted, youthful bodies too often featured on other adult entertainment sites.
Depictions that also made gay men who didn’t fit this unrealistically buff mold feel unnecessarily inadequate or ashamed of their natural bodies.
But there’s something else about Himeros.tv that sets it apart from those other porn sites: that with celebrating the eroticism and beauty of every body shape, and Wavey wanted the videos to inform as well.
Speaking to the Advocate, Wavey explained that by calling on sexuality experts, the site would use how gay men already learn a great deal about sex through watching porn by creating content to help his viewers become better lovers:
“We don’t market it as educational porn or porn that’s good for you, but it kind of is. It’s porn, that when you watch it, you see either a technique that’s being demonstrated or a concept that you feel like you can apply to your life”.

This is life, this is sex, and it’s beautiful
Through interviews, his YouTube videos, and looking at Himeros.tv, it’s evident that Davey Wavey gets it as in he understands, accepts, and embraces that everyone, no matter their age, the condition or shape of their bodies, their ethnicity, and everything else that grants us our uniqueness is beautiful.
And hot, absolutely can’t forget that as Himeros.tv does brilliantly performs its mission by showing everyone having a sincerely great time while demonstrating all kinds of queer sex techniques in the process.
Moreover, Davey Wavey and his copywriting team equally get it by conscientiously steering clear of Devotee language when describing or filming any of his disabled performers.
So instead of emphasizing things like stumps and scars, we’re treated to people like Joe and Michael [NSFW]—two older gay men, one of them a double amputee—making love.
And it’s touching, passionate, and amazing for being a non-judgemental, non-exploitive glimpse into the lives of these wonderful and beautiful men.
Himeros.tv also featured a young quadriplegic man alongside adult star Pierce Paris.

Sex isn’t just about erections
I also want to mention that Davey Wavey should receive an extra gold star for showing that queer sex can be incredible without the need for an erection or a penis.
“Some people don’t get hard very often, some people do,” he said in the Advocate interview. “It’s just part of life and we need to be a little bit kinder to ourselves about our fucking boners.”
He goes on to give a much-needed dose of reality to those who think otherwise, saying that porn films are an illusion: “No one’s going to be hard for four to six hours. And not only do they often take Viagra, but they often inject their dicks with a drug called Trimix.”
Tomorrow’s queer porn
When asked to comment on where he sees queer adult entertainment heading, Davey Wavey told the Advocate that he considers the rise of camsites like OnlyFans a sign that viewers are hungering for real people having real sex.
I’d like to humbly add to this by suggesting that through Himeros.tv Wavey’s already shown us the future of porn.
And if not, where it should be going: a world where porn sites finally abandon the idea that sex should be exclusively for the young and the buff, who are never flaccid or get tired.
Replacing them instead with images of people, with or without penises or erections, to better reflect and, in doing so, celebrate the entire scope of human sexuality and the full range of our various body types.
And this wonderfully diverse content will be as informative as it is passionate: bringing Davey Wavey’s vision of, as he puts it, “dipping the broccoli,” meaning worthwhile education, in the sweet chocolatey taste of porn.
M.Christian loves nothing better than exploring the intersections of sex and technology—and speculating on the future of both. A highly regarded erotica writer he has six novels,12 collections,100+ short stories, and 25 anthologies as an editor to his name. His non-fiction regularly appears n many sites, but he’s most proud of being a regular contributor to Future of Sex.
Of his erotic fiction, Tristan Taormino said that “M.Christian is a literary stylist of the highest caliber: smart, funny, frightening, sexy—there’s nothing he can’t write about … and brilliantly.”
Reflecting his unique ability to sympathetically and convincingly write for a range of genders and sexual orientations, his stories have appeared in multiple editions of Best American Erotica, Best Gay Erotica, Best Lesbian Erotica, The Mammoth Books of Erotica, and others. His collection of gay erotic fiction, Dirty Words, was a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award.
While a majority of his stories have been collected into books like Dirty Words, his fondness for combining sex and science fiction is clearly evident in collections that include Rude Mechanicals, Technorotica, Better Than The Real Thing, Skin Effect Effect, Bachelor Machine, and Hard Drive: The Best Sci-Fi Erotica of M.Christian.
As a novelist, M.Christian’s versatility is on full display with <em?Running Dry, The Very Bloody Marys, Brushes, Painted Doll; and the somewhat controversial queer BDSM/horror/thrillers Finger’s Breadth, and Me2.
M.Christian has worked on the industry’s production side as an Associate Publisher for Renaissance E Books and as a Publisher for Digital Parchment Services. The latter dedicated to celebrating the works of science-fiction legends such as William Rotsler, Jerome Bixby, Jody Scott, Arthur Byron Cover, Ernest Hogan, and James Van Hise.
Covering topics like BDSM safety, sexual education, senior sexuality concerns, queer and gender issues, plus reviewing a variety of sextech products, M.Christian’s non-fiction has appeared on sites like Kinkly, Tickle.Life, Sexpert, Queer Majority, Sex for Every Body, and—of course—his ongoing work for Future of Sex.
If there’s anything M.Christian enjoys more than writing, it’s teaching. A featured presenter, sometimes with his friend Ralph Greco Jr, at national sex and BDSM events, he’s lectured on kink play (with an emphasis on safety), polyamory, boosting sexual creativity, and erotica writing–for beginners or those wanting to go pro.
M.Christian is a cohost on two popular sex-education podcasts: Love’s Outer Limits with Dr. Amy Marsh and Licking Non-Vanilla with Ralph Greco, Jr.
