Hop on any porn tube site, and you’ll easily find fast-paced, explicit content. Scenes that jump straight into hardcore action and are geared toward pushing viewers through arousal to climax as soon as possible. Maybe that’s your thing, but it’s not for everyone and certainly not all the time.
Steamy and emotionally-driven erotica is the antidote to this fast-food porn diet. But it’s not as easy to find. That’s why Anna Richards founded FrolicMe, an erotica platform that prides itself on ethically producing a range of content, including films, written stories, and audio porn.
We interviewed Anna to learn how she’s filling the demand for passionate, authentic erotica that celebrates female pleasure. She also dives into the challenges of making sensual female-authored content and how she ensures erotica is ethically produced.
What inspired you to launch FrolicMe in 2015, and how has it grown since then?
Anna: “I launched FrolicMe because I wanted erotic content that felt real, sensual, and centered on mutual pleasure. So little in the mainstream was what I deemed erotic and so much was male-centric featuring gratuitous extreme imagery where women were constantly objectified. As a woman, there was nothing that reflected my desires or reality. Everything I came across was created through the male gaze, and I didn’t think I could have been alone in those thoughts, ‘where was the unabashed enjoyment of sex with lustful desire and hot passionate chemistry?’ as I couldn’t find it.
“When I launched, I began with my own produced erotic films and sexy stories, and over the years we have added the audio medium to offer audio erotic content as an immersive form of erotica, for those who enjoy the intimacy of the spoken word. However, my focus has remained the same to capture authentic moments of desire while giving my audience variety and immediacy.”
How does FrolicMe ensure erotica is ethically produced?
Anna: “I always felt it was possible to both produce and consume erotic films in an ethical way.
“Ethics start with production and I am proud to say that unlike many mainstream sites, we produce all our own content for FrolicMe. Our strong ethos and ethics are at the core of everything we do, from what we produce to what we portray and how we care for those we work with and those of our members. When it comes to production, it’s a very collaborative process. Our performers are fully consenting, respected, and actively involved in the creative process. Boundaries are discussed in detail, and consent is ongoing throughout every shoot.
“Ethical porn isn’t just about what viewers see; it’s about how everyone involved feels during and after the process. Behind the camera, we maintain a calm, professional environment, fair pay, and transparent communication.”

What challenges come with producing ethical erotica focused on female pleasure?
Anna: “There are a few. Sadly there is a lot of stigma surrounding female sexuality and this reflects in how women enjoy sex and view pornography. It’s not that women do not like porn or are not as visual as men when it comes to sexual imagery, but that some women are less inclined to watch due to the social and cultural stigma and shame attached to watching porn and sex. However, with more open conversations around sex and pleasure, and ethical sites like FrolicMe, we are seeing an increase in women’s interest in sourcing more sensual female-authored content.
“The adult industry often assumes that quick, explicit content sells best, so slower, more emotionally driven scenes can be undervalued. But that is something I wanted to challenge and provide a site that openly celebrates female pleasure for women and couples to enjoy.
“Our audience wants content that is thoughtful, sensual, and inclusive—and that’s exactly what we create.”
What do you hope viewers take away from FrolicMe content?
Anna: “Beyond arousal, I hope women in particular feel seen and validated in their desires. I want them to feel relaxed in their bodies and inspired to explore their sexuality with confidence. Although I am always delighted to know that couples enjoy visiting the site together, creating opportunities to explore and discuss the joys of sex together. I feel erotic content can be powerful when it connects people with themselves, not just imagery.”
Do you have a favorite piece of content FrolicMe has created?
Anna: “It’s hard to pick just one! I’m drawn to projects that feel quietly intimate—where glances, touch, and small moments carry as much weight as explicit action. At its heart, FrolicMe is about reclaiming eroticism and desire as something human, ethical, and deeply pleasurable—and that mission continues to guide everything we create.”
