The first sex toy brand ever to exhibit at Europe’s largest disability convention is back for the second year in a row.
Hot Octopuss will bring more stock and staff to the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, UK, on July 6 and 7, 2022, for Naidex. The free event features the latest technologies and services for the disability community and independent living.
“Last year our store was the best attended at the show, as was our live podcast, so understandably this year increasing the numbers manning the stand was a must,” said Head of Creative, Kelly Gordon.
Gordon, a full-time wheelchair user with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 3, hosts the sex-positive podcast Pleasure Rebels. At Naidex 2022, she will host a live show for Pleasure Rebels on body image in collaboration with the disability-focused zine Not Your Monolith (NYM).
Penile vibratory stimulation
The sex tech company’s hands-free penis masturbators, which can be used when flaccid or erect, were especially popular at the 2021 event.
The Hot Octopuss PULSE vibrators were developed using penile vibratory stimulation and based on research on men living with spinal cord injuries.
“Most people that visited the store didn’t even realise that products like ours existed,” added Gordon. “We had a lot of eager customers ready to take home a PULSE and give it a try for themselves”
Different versions are designed for solo use and couples. The latest release, the Hot Octopuss Pulse interactive, can be controlled by a mobile app as well as sync with digital content and partner toys. It will be on display at Naidex along with more new products, including items from its BDSM collection.
After looking through the 2022 exhibitor list, it appears Hot Octopuss will once again be the only sexual wellness company at the disability convention.
But Gordon says the warm welcome received last year made the company eager to return.
“We definitely had a few funny looks as visitors arrived and saw our gorgeous banners with statements like ‘I WATCH PORN’ in huge letters across the front of them,” she said. “However, we had so many progressive and exciting conversations with customers and medical professionals.”
“We couldn’t have asked for a better reception.”
