For people with penises, sleeve-type masturbators can be pleasurable to use.
The fact, however, that many of these sex toys rely on the user getting and maintaining an erection is often a massive source of frustration and disappointment, especially for older folks or people with disabilities.
That’s why the Hot Octopuss Pulse line of hands-free vibrators is so brilliant since the devices can be used on both flaccid and erect penises.
The UK-based sex tech company offers four versions of the product, two intended for solo use and two for couples’ play. The LUX version of each comes with wearable remotes.
A heartfelt thanks to Hot Octopuss for sending me a Pulse Duo Lux to try out. After spending an extensive and quite enjoyable time with the hand-free vibrator, I can vouch for it as a worthy new addition to a couple’s sexual playtime. A new approach to penis-focused sextech
The difference between the Hot Octopuss Pulse line of “guybrator” and other sex toys for penis-havers is apparent at first glance.
Instead of being an enclosed tube a person inserts oneself into, the Pulse line of masturbators products instead encircles, or better yet, kind-of, sort-of gently clips around the shaft of the penis.
The upshot of this design is a person doesn’t need to be fully erect or even have an erection at all, to play with it.
As someone who is well into “that certain age” group and who is trying to deal with arthritis pain, I can personally attest to the brilliance of this design.
Even better, as the buzzes and oscillations of the Hot Octopuss Pulse vibrators can be felt all over, they can be used on every part of the body and even on vulvas—hence another factor that makes the Pulse Duo Lux a great couple’s sex toys.
As would be expected, however, the sensation is a little less intense in places where the main hardwre does not contact the skin.
While the core toy component remains the same among all four of the Hot Octopuss Pulse devices, the Pulse Duo Lux comes with two wrist controllers. This way a couple can simultaneously tell the vibrator what to do.

Comfortable and intuitive controls
Though the Pulse Duo Lux has built-in controls, as they are black on black, they can be hard to locate, particularly in a low-light environment.
But this an observation and not a criticism, as Hot Octopuss has thoughtfully packed both its Pulse Solo Lux and the Pulse Duo Lux with Bluetooth wearable remote controllers.
While the Solo Lux comes with one wearable remote, the Pulse Duo Lux comes with two, one allowing each partner to control the sexual play.
I was pleasantly surprised I was by how one, or two, of the wrist controls synched up with the device. Expecting frustration; instead, I giggled with delight that all it took was briefly holding down the on-off button on each of the wrist controllers to do the trick.
They also don’t override or replace each other’s commands to the toy, but instead, they add intensity or a vibrational pattern to the mix.
For seniors and those with disabilities, having two controls—especially ones that are as easy to use as these—could be an exceptional contribution to their sexual activities.
Something I’m already well-acquainted with, as it gives people I play with the opportunity to step in when my hands get too painful to use effectively: replacing aggravation with pleasure.
Getting started with the Hot Octopuss Pulse Duo Lux
It’s worth noting, as with anything to do with sex, it’s best to approach the Hot Octopuss Pulse Duo Lux with an open mind and try out a broad range of ways of using it.
Lube, no-lube, gliding up and down the length of a penis, letting it sit in one place, or rotating it around, the sky should be the limit—and as you get more and more practice, eventually discovering your personally-perfect way to enjoy this toy.
And if you want to partner up with someone to do this enjoying together, it’s advisable to get familiar with the Pulse Duo Lux before trying it out together.
This way, you can share what you like, what you need, to be aroused with it—instead of both of you fumbling around and getting frustrated.

Other features—and the importance of recognition
Another extra-great plus is that the Hot Octopuss Pulse Duo Lux and its controllers are waterproof.
As people who experience chronic joint pain often are well aware, a shower or bath—hot or cold—can help alleviate some discomfort. This fully-immersable toy can perhaps add added relief by adding a component of sexual pleasure.
With the Pulse Duo Lux and its matching controllers, you also get a power cord that magnetically attaches to the toy, a neat little bag for it all, and an excellently conceived instruction sheet that’s large illustrations are ideal for those of us with vision difficulties.
But the best feature isn’t built into the Pulse Duo Lux: it’s on Hot Octopuss’s site about it and the other Pulse Lux products.
Having just left 60 behind, it’s touching to find a company designing and marketing sextech for seniors and people desiring “Diverse & Accessible Sex.” Not only that, but they ever have a designated section for Trans/Queer/Non-Binary users.
A great product and a great company
I’ve so much respect for Hot Octopuss and their drive to be as inclusive as possible; it’s tempting to tell you all to rush out and pick up one of their products to show your support.
In all honesty, I can unequivocally say that about their Pulse Duo Lux. Senior or not, disabled or not, this is an excellently built and designed toy.
But if you do have snow on your roof, or you have a disability, then the Pulse Duo Lux could give you just what you need: a way to delightfully pleasure yourself, with or without a partner, and, best of all, marketed with you and your concerns in mind.
